What is SledgeFEst?
The concept of SledgFest is simple. To create an event that brings all of the stars of sledge hockey together for a 3 day round robin tournament. The goal is to increase the exposure for the sport and getting more people involved. In 2010 SledgeFest was made possible by a dedicated group of men and women. Invented in Stockholm in the 1960's, sledge hockey has been a sport of hope and therapy. From it's early roots, the sport has always been focused on providing an opportunity to individuals who have a suffered a physical disability that would prevent them from playing ice hockey. Sledge hockey is now recognized world wide as a challenging and physically demanding sport.
The first ever SledgeFest event was a major hit. The event raised over $100,000. However, we weren't able to bring in all of the players and teams we had hoped for, we still consider SledgeFest to be a major success. We have several more Sledge Hockey events that we are in the process of planning. These include two international events in Europe.
